Subject: Re: New Appointments to the UK Supreme Court

I thought it somewhat unusual, to say the least, when Ken Hayne was replaced on the High Court of Australia by his wife, Michelle Gordon. Now the same thing has happened with the replacement on the UK Supreme Court of Lord Mance by his wife, Mary Ardern. Any other  instances?

Dear Colleagues,

The appointments of three new Justices have been announced to the UK Supreme Court.

Lady Justice Arden, Lord Justice Kitchin and Lord Justice Sales will replace Lords Mance, Hughes and Sumption on their respective retirements.

The appointments provide the UKSC with some much needed private law expertise.

Best wishes,
